Breaking the Master Cleanse

Even though I am carrying on for a longer journey I realize that others will most likely only need a ten day cleanse. So I want to make sure everyone is clear on how to break the lemonade diet. I am relaying instruction directly from Stanley Burroughs book “The Master Cleanser with special needs and problems”. You can buy it on Amazon.com for just a few dollars, or better yet upload a digital copy to your Kindle or iPad.

It’s very important to come off of the diet correctly. The last thing you want to do is go out and eat a big Mac with cheese! Be gentle to your body and it will thank you. You also want to slowly ease into food again so your metabolism has time to catch up to speed and will be ready process whole foods again. You probably want to keep the weight you lost to stay off.

Coming off the cleanse properly will take three or four days (for a ten day cleanse).

Directions for a previous Vegetarian Diet
Days 1 and 2 after the diet:

Several glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice throughout the day

If there are any digestive problems add water to the juice
Drink slowly

The orange juice prepares the digestive system for food

Day 3 after the diet:

Orange juice in the morning

Raw fruit for lunch
Fruit or raw vegetable salad at night

Directions for a previous meat eating diet
Day 1 after the diet:

Several glasses of fresh squeezed orange juice during the day
Drink slowly
Extra water if necessary

Day 2 after the diet:

Several glasses of orange juice during the day

prepare a homemade soup for lunch

Eat soup for dinner drinking mostly the broth a very few vegetables

No bread or crackers, but you can eat Rye Wafers

Day 3 after the diet:

Orange juice in the morning

Warm over the stove vegetable soup and eat vegetables for lunch

Dinner eat any vegetables, salad, or fruits

Day 4 after the diet:
Normal eating

Recipe for vegetable soup:
“Use several kinds of vegetables, perhaps one or two kinds of legumes, potatoes, celery, carrots, green vegetable tops, onion etc. dehydrated vegetables or vegetable soup powders may be added for extra flavor. Okra or okra powder, chili, curry, cayenne (red) pepper, tomatoes, green peppers, and zucchini squash may be included to good advantage. Brown rice maybe used but no meat or meat stock. Other spices may be added (delicately) for flavor. Use salt delicately as a limited amount of salt is necessary. Learn to enjoy the natural flavor of the vegetables. The less cooking the better”.
