Urban Chic Mirror Upcycle

mirror 1

I took an out-dated plain white mirror and turned it into an amazing Urban design.  It was super easy!

 What you will need:
Jewelry Glue with a fine tip: Beacon Gem-Tac Permanent Adhesive, 4-Ounce
First I washed the mirror removing any dust and debris.  Then I took the glue I had on hand.  You can use any glue here but I found Elmer’s Glue was too runny.  Use something with a bit more consistency to it if you are creating a small design.  I used jewelry glue–just because I had it.  Any glue would work.

I wanted my mirror to have somewhat of a carved “Celtic” look.  So I took the ruler and eye-balled distance while making squares all around the frame of the mirror.  I let those squares set up and dry a bit and then put the design inside the squares.  Then I let it dry over night.

The next morning when the sun came out I took it to my back yard and spray painted it with an antique gold color.  After that was dry I brought the mirror back in.

The last step was taking some acrylic black paint and dabbing it on with a sponge.  I let it dry a big and then wiped it off, creating an antique look and making the design pop.

And there you have it.  A brand new, fun, up-cycled Urban Chic Mirror!
