I’ve made a few T- Shirt quilts in the past. I came across this photo recently, I made this quilt for my sons high school graduation. He loved to wear Michael Jordan shirts and these were old ones I had saved.
TIP: When working with T-shirt fabric it stretches out of shape. To prevent this from happening I used a soft iron on interfacing and attached to each t shirt square.
Another TIP: I used a flannel flat sheet for the pieces beside each shirt block as well as the backing. I also used the same sheet for the binding. Using a queen size flat sheet to make a twin quilt will yield plenty of fabric.
TRICK: Notice the little “swoosh” details between each square. This was on the upper back of each shirt. Using them made more visual interest.
It takes a good day to make one of these quilts but they are great for the kids to take to college, so well worth the time.
