Ideal Protein Weeks 3 & 4


If slow and steady wins the race then I must be winning. It has been 28 days since starting IP and I am down 11 pounds. I feel less bloated and I’ve lost 3 inches around my waist. Other than that I look the same, only D can really tell I’ve lost anything. I’m so tall and my weight is equally distributed across my body that it takes 30 pounds to go down a size.

The end of week 3 I had lost 12 pounds, but during week 4 I gained one back. I’m not going to beat myself up over that pound. It is JUST A POUND. Seriously I am super proud of myself for consistently staying on this diet and overall eating healthier. That is my goal. Any weight loss will be a welcome side-benefit.

Things I learned the past two weeks:

~I feel so great that I joined the local gym. However, trying to put on a sports bra that is too small is not only inadvisable but extremely painful. Furthermore it may require scissors or two people to remove it. I was lucky D was home to help me with the struggle. lol

~Ideal Protein posted a video last week on how to make cauliflower rice. I was so excited because I had just picked up a huge bag at Costco. I have one big warning, making cauliflower rice will leave your house smelling like a latrine for a few days. Open windows and Scentsy to the rescue on this one.

~When Mrs. P arrives it may be ugly. While on IP your body burns fat as fuel. As the fat is burned it releases toxins and estrogen in your bloodstream that is stored inside of your fat. This increases the estrogen in your body. It is advisable to use extra protection during the diet so you don’t end up with an IP baby. Lots of water is your friend to quickly flush toxins out.

~I don’t need as much sleep. As my body doesn’t have sugar spikes I feel more energetic throughout the day and just need my eight hours at night to get me through. I love the stable energy that I have now and how it lasts all day.

~I’m rarely hungry. As my body has adjusted to ketosis I am not near as hungry and the IP meals fill me up. When I first began my journey I felt a bit ripped off on the portion sizes.

Thanks for following my Ideal Protein Journey. I will be posting every two weeks from here on out because this is becoming a lifestyle change that I really love and don’t plan on quitting any time soon. Cheers to better health!
