Chocolate Waffle Christmas Cookies {Delish}

img_5850

Christmas just isn’t Christmas at our house without these delicious chocolate waffle cookies frosted with homemade cream cheese frosting and sprinkled with festive yummies. It started back as far as I can remember. Mom always made them. As soon as D and I were married I began to do the same. However, there was a little twist. As a wedding gift we were given a heart-shaped waffle iron. Twenty-four years later I still use it. We now have to have these delicious Christmas goodies heart-shaped too!

Here’s another fun fact. I only make these once a year, at Christmas. Well probably twice in December because they go so quickly with a large family. So that makes them even more special. I had to share our favorite traditional cookie recipe with everyone this holiday season. I hope your family enjoys them as much as ours.

Chocolate Waffle Cookies

4 eggs {room temperature}

1 1/2 cup sugar

Cream together and add 1 cup of melted butter or margarine

2 tsp. vanilla

In separate bowl mix 2 cups of flour

6 Tblsp. Cocoa

Slowly stir into wet mixture and blend well.

Bake on Heart Shaped Waffle Iron & set on cooling rack.

{I use a pastry brush and a little oil in the waffle iron each batch to ensure they don’t stick}

Cool on cooling rack, Frost, Sprinkle & Enjoy!

Cream Cheese Frosting

8 ounces Philadelphia Cream Cheese {room temperature}

1/2 cup butter or margarine {room temperature}

2 tsp white vanilla

16 ounces powdered sugar

Blend together until smooth.

Use to frost anything you want to taste delicious!

The following are links to my favorite products that I use to make these cookies. I’m not a huge fan of clean up so ALWAYS use parchment paper. The sheets that are cut to size for my pans are my fave. I also use real butter and Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Using top notch ingredients makes all of the difference in how the cookie tastes.

I made these and took them to a friend’s home for a get together last night and they were a huge hit. I hope your family will love them as much as ours. Merry Christmas!

12/7 Update: I’ll be sharing with Today’s Take because I know that these cookies will blow Dylan’s away! Besides, I would love a day with my favorite TV hosts to prove it.
